Writing & Editing Services

Heather Perkins Creative

I have been writing professionally for 15 years and have experience in copywriting, grant writing, corporate writing, technical writing and editing. Having worked in a lot of different industries, I am familiar with the unique contextual requirements for many different types of projects. I know the right questions to ask to make sure I can meet your needs in a timely and targeted fashion.

Some of the writing and editing services I offer include:

  • Creative
    • Copywriting
    • Developmental editing, style and line editing, copyediting, and proofreading
    • Articles and content
    • Manuscript critiques
    • Writing coaching and workshops
  • Technical editing and writing
    • Scientific editing, academic editing, and research support
    • Engineering and software manuals
    • Healthcare and pharmaceutical editing
  • Corporate
    • Financial services writing
    • Grant writing
    • Presentation and Powerpoint critiques
    • Business-to-Business and Business-to-Client communications

So, I’ll just come out and say it–I write well. Partly that’s style; when I am reading fiction, it is the graceful, elegant turn of phrase that delights me. I believe a succinct and subtle comment is far more compelling than paragraphs of laborious prose. This means that when I am writing for you, I get to the point in a clarifying and stylish manner.

The other important element of superior writing and editing is an understanding of the true message. My years of training as a holistic counselor, combined with my business experience, give me a lot of tools. Half the battle with writing is figuring out what really needs to be said, to whom, and how. This is a structural issue. Beautiful compelling prose won’t help you reach your audience if it is communicating the wrong ideas. I interview my clients carefully to assure the right message is sent.

Let’s discuss your upcoming (or ongoing) projects. Contact me here, even if you’re just curious to hear more. I’m certainly interested to hear what you’re working on!

  • I am a commercial freelance writer/editor, creativity coach and artist living in Boulder, Colorado. The pivotal intersection of my passions are art, spirituality and healing, but my work takes me in many interesting directions. I'd love to talk to you about any projects you are working on. My 'About' and 'Writing/Editing' pages will tell you a bit more, in case the obvious tends to elude you. If it does, great! You probably have an unusual perspective and I will surely enjoy our conversation.
